Reacting to Mamata Banerjee’s announcement about building a Durga temple, Suvendu Adhikari said the Chief Minister has neither read the Constitution nor understood the basic principles of her own religion. “That is why she is making such irresponsible statements,” he remarked. “Whether it is a temple, mosque, gurdwara, or church - no religious place can be built using government funds. This is a clear violation of the secular principles enshrined in the Constitution.” The opposition has further alleged that Mamata Banerjee is now attempting to exploit religious sentiments for electoral gains.
